Jerry : Ha ha ha. That’s right. It’s too bad that we have school so fast.
Yoga : I really had fun spending my holidays at my grandmother house in Lombok.
Jerry : I had fun with my holidays too.
Yoga : What about you, Jerry? Your family always takes a vacation to some places abroad, right? Did you go somewhere outside of Indonesia?
Jerry : Um, yes.
Yoga : Where did you go then? Malaysia? Singapore?
Jerry : This time I and my family went to South Korea.
Yoga : Oh, really? That’s amazing! How was South Korea?
Jerry : It’s a wonderful place.
Yoga : Come on, Jerry. Don’t just say ‘it’s a wonderful place’! Tell me what places you visited!
Jerry : Okay, okay, Yoga… I see you are always excited at listening up my vacation story
Yoga : hee hee hee.
Jerry : Well, first of all, we went and stayed in some pleasant inn in Seoul. In Seoul we checked out various kinds of public places. Seoul is a big city and it also has many attractions for tourists. That time we had a chance to visit Namsam Tower.
Yoga : Namsam Tower? I have ever heard that place in some Korean movie I watched. Was it great?
Jerry : Yes, it is amazing tall tower in Soul. There were a lot tourists came to visit and take some photos near the tower. Then… we also came to Lotte World. Lotte World was like an amusement park but it is not really wide as other amusement parks I have ever visited in other places, but I quite had a lot of fun there. And then…. We visited the Korean Folk Village in Yongin. In there we saw the traditional ways of life of Korean people.
Yoga : Is there any historical places you visited there?
Jerry : Yes. There are historical buildings like palaces in Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, or Deoksugung, but we unfortunately didn’t have chance to go there.
Yoga : Oh, that’s too bad.
Jerry : And…. We visited the last amazing place called Jeju Island. This island was a paradise in South Korea. I really love the beauty of nature from this place, especially the beach. The beach was tremendous. The water is so clear in blue. And the sand is so white. I love it. After from Jeju Island and spent our 5 days in South Korea we went back to Indonesia.
Yoga : South Korea is cool! I really have to go there someday!

English Conversation about Holidays

Percakapan Bahasa Inggris tentang Liburan : Where Did You Spend Your Holidays?

Yudi : [sigh] Why did holidays end so fast? I was even really enjoying my holidays. I need more holidays. One more week should be enough.
Tia : Yeah, I know how you feel, Yudi. School should have not started out this early. Now we have to get back to our day-to-day routine. I don’t even have my passion of studying after all this short holidays.
Siti : Ha ha ha. Come on, Guys! I know it must be really hard for us to leave our beautiful holidays behind. But we all know that ready or not holidays have to be over.
Tia : [Sigh] Alright, but I really wish that we can have more days left before school. So, where did you spend your holidays, Yudi?
Yudi : You want to hear the story of my holidays? Alright, I spent my holidays at my mother’s hometown in Padang.
Siti : Wow, did you visit to any interesting places there?
Yudi : Of course! I went to some nice places there with my family, and the best places I visited were Sianok Canyon, Japanese Cave, and Singkarak Lake. Have you ever heard the names of those places?
Tia : Um…. Nope.
Siti : I watched Sianok Canyon once on TV, it seemed to be a great canyon.
Yudi : You’re right! Sianok Canyon was really great and extremely high. The view from up above the canyon was tremendous. It’s really beautiful. I wish I could go there with my wife in the future, hee hee hee. Singkarak lake was also beautiful. While I visited the lake, we met and played with many monkeys that lived around the forest near the lake.
Tia : What about the Japanese Cave? It sounds cool.
Yudi : The Japanese Cave was located near the Sianok Canyon. Just like its name, this cave was an historical legacy of Japanese people that was used as a defense base during World War II. Um…. And you, where did you spend your holidays, Tia?
Tia : I went to my father’s hometown in Jogjakarta. There I visited many interesting places, and one of them was Malioboro Street. Malioboro Street was one of my favorite spot in Jogjakarta. I bought things with low price there as long as you are good at haggling over the prices. I went to Magelang as well. I visited Borobudur, it was an awesome trip. So, where did you spend your holidays, Siti?
Siti : Actually, I didn’t go to any cool places out of the town like you all did. My parents were too busy working on our bakery shop.
Tia : Awwh… that’s too bad. I hope you didn’t feel sad for that.
Yudi : It’s okay, Tia. We still have next semester holidays, right? Maybe your parents would have time for you on the next holidays.
Siti : It’s alright, Guys. I didn’t feel disappointed at all for that. I was even really happy I could help my parents to work on our bakery shop. Plus, on the next holidays, they promised me that we could go to Bali.
Yudi : Whoa, that’s cool!
Tia : I’m glad to hear that!

Percakapan Bisnis Bahasa Inggris – How I Start My Bakery Business

Heri : Hey, Yanti! Long time no see! And now your bakery business has gone into a great success. What an achievement!
Yanti : Thank you, Heri. I’m still trying as best as I can to satisfy every customer.
Heri : Wow. Can you tell me the story of your success, Yanti?
Yanti : Well, before my business goes this big, I also experienced hard times. At the first time starting out my bakery, my factory where I made the bakery foods was in my own house’s kitchen. I did everything by myself. I made the dough, I baked the dough, I packed the bakery foods, I marketed and distributed my bakery foods to food stalls to be resold all by my self. I tried my best to satisfy people and make them love my bakery foods.
Heri : And then… what happened next?
Yanti : Over time, many people began to like my bakery foods. Seeing that opportunity, with adequate fund of bank loan and driven by strong will, I decided to build and open up my own bakery. It wasn’t still a large bakery. I stopped selling my bakery foods to the food stalls and began to sell them in my own small bakery.
Heri : Did many people come to buy right after you opened the bakery?
Yanti : It was like I needed to start over again. I had to introduce my new-open bakery to people once more. I made brochures and leaflets to get people know my bakery. And…. finally, people started to come over my bakery. My bakery customers then increased in number by the help of mouth-to-mouth promotions. That was how my marketing strategy worked.
Heri : Wow, weren’t you overwhelmed to handle those customers all by yourself?
Yanti : Of course, I had trouble to meet customer’s demands. Therefore, I decided to employ workers to work on my bakery. I started out employing 3 workers; 2 workers to work with me making the bakery foods back in the kitchen, and the rest became cashier and salesclerk that serve customers.
Heri : Do you need more workers then?
Yanti : Of course, my scale of production was getting massive over time. Therefore, I started to employ more workers, enlarge and trim up my bakery, enhance my business strategy until today.
Heri : What do you consider as the most important thing in running your bakery business?
Yanti : Definitely, costumer’s satisfaction. I wouldn’t have run my business smoothly if I belittled customer’s satisfaction. One satisfaction of a customer is enough to attract other customers to come.
Heri : That’s great, Yanti. Thank you for sharing. I wish your story can be helpful for me someday.
Yanti : You’re welcome, Heri.
